Silly Girls

I don't know these silly girls, but I've been told it's Brooke, her friend Harlea, Kelly and Hailey.

Yep, thanks to Hailey they came up with some creative ways to have fun with medical tape.

Roses are Red

I'm not real sure what to think about this, but a 6th grade boy at Hailey's school made her this rose out of duct tape. The tape it wrapped around a writing pen. He called her out of class to her locker to give it to her.

Is he talented...you bet!

I waited too long to take pictures in the flowers this Spring; therefore, they weren't as vibrant as when they first popped out. But...still worth posting!

It wasn't planned. We stopped by my uncle's house to visit with Gunter and Jan who are here from Germany visiting. My Great Aunt Cecile (my maternal grandmother's baby sister and last living sibling) asked how many generations were present. Four = picture time!

Beauty and the Beast

Brooke and I had a special night out last Friday. We went with two of her friends and their Mom to see Beauty and the Beast at Conroe High School. It was an excellent youth production! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more...the parents or the girls.

Going to the Fair

Last year we had the opportunity to attend the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo, thanks to Brooke. She was one of several winners of a coloring contest through The Conroe Courier, a local newspaper.

This year we get to go again, thanks to Kelly. She called Hailey and me last week at the hospital to give us the good news. She was so excited and giggling to the point of being hard to understand. If I were my friend Cari, I would have a picture to post of the sheet she colored, but instead all I have are these tickets.

I can share with you that Brooke colored her sheet first. When Kelly got ready to color hers, she took Brooke's sheet and copied every color exactly. Needless to say, Brooke was not happy that Kelly was copying her. In case you have forgotten, kids like to copy, but hate to be copied.

We're looking forward to attending the fair next week!

PICC Line

Do you see the white wrap (actually it's a sock) on Hailey's left arm?

Remove the wrap and what do I see? A PICC line staring at me!!

PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter)
is a form of intravenous access that can be used for a prolonged period of time for chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy or nutrition.

A PICC is inserted in a peripheral vein and then advanced through increasingly larger veins toward the heart until the tip rests in the distal superior vena cava or cavoatrial junction.

Hailey's PICC is used for antibiotic therapy every 8 hours. We're both tired of keeping early morning and late evening hours AND it makes me thankful I no longer have a newborn.

Hailey's Goodies

After being diagnosed with crohns, Hailey was given a nice incentive to gain weight. Pops and Mae Mae agreed to pay her $10 for every pound she gained back. She purchased a new pair of boots with her money and they arrived today via UPS. She wore them all day long and will be sporting them tomorrow at school. Aren't they cute??

Just for the record - she dropped down to 68 pounds and has officially gained back 17, now weighing in at 85 pounds. A week ago she was told by the dietitian she gets an A+ in nutrition. She has been placed back on a normal healthy diet and told her weight is PERFECT for her height. YAY Hailey!

She saw the earrings and choker at the hospital gift shop, begged for them and miraculously they made it to her basket on Easter morning. The Easter Bunny rocks!

Easter Day

We spent Easter Day with a group of approximately 50 people (a few friends, but mostly family) at my Uncle Darrell's house which is the same house where my maternal grandparent's lived when they were alive. Going back there for holidays is always special for me because it brings back many childhood memories. It's always been tradition due to such a large family to share lunch covered dish style. Everyone brings a few items. It's interesting how we always seems to have the right amount of meats, veggies, salads, drinks and desserts. The afternoon festivities were the egg hunt and several games of washers. The weather was beautiful...thank goodness!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Kelly has lost many teeth in the past several weeks...five to be exact. She refused to let us pull them unless she was sleeping, so that became Hailey's responsibility. Kelly hand picked Hailey as her "tooth puller". Kelly would go to bed with a little piece of tissue paper wrapped around the loose tooth and when she fell asleep Hailey would go in and get the job done. It worked every time! She is missing her top four front teeth and two on the bottom. She earned some cash...$2 for each tooth!

Elsie

Cousin Aaron got a new puppy, her name is Elsie...isn't she cute? He also got a broken thumb playing baseball, but it's all healed now...YAY!

Easter 2010

Kelly cried because she dropped her eggs, one broke and she was afraid the bunny would be upset
