Too Much Barking

Brooke brought home a graded paper of where she had to read a passage and then answer a few questions. The short story was about a Dad and Mom, their daughter Marta and the family pet Nicky. Nicky was a good dog, but barks too much. Dad asked Marta if they could stop the dog from barking and why she thought Nicky barks too much. Marta said that Nicky sees the mail carrier walk up to the house every day, but they never let the mail carrier in the house; therefore, Nicky thinks that the mail carrier is not a friend. Dad and Mom were surprised with Marta's observation and wondered why they didn't think of that themselves.

Brooke's directions were:
Write the story words that have the following meanings:

1) someone you like a lot
Correct answer: friend
Brooke's answer: I like Mom

2) someone who can carry things
Correct answer: carrier
Brooke's answer: God

The moral of the story...Brooke likes her Mom and her Mom must be doing something right if Brooke is thinking about God at school! You're right Brooke - God can carry things, he is strong and mighty, he carries the whole world in his hands!
